Welcome to the USS Shiloh

The projection of power abroad has been the method of choice for the United Federations of Planets to control space, show the flag, and bring peace to our universe. We boldly go where no man has gone before. We ask little in return for fulfilling our duty and exploring the galaxy. We are the first in combat, and the last out. We are the front line, and the last line. Our ship is the newest vessel of Horizon Fleet.

Welcome aboard the U.S.S. Shiloh, NCC-73549, Horizon Fleet's first Hastings-class carrier vessel. Since man learned to fly and land off the deck of the U.S.S. Pennsylvania in the early 20th century, the aircraft carrier became an integral part of fleet operations. The carrier was versatile and powerful, able to control thousands of kilometers of sea. Today, the role of the carrier is much the same. It serves as a backbone for the fleet with capabilities to support any major operation, to show the Flag of the Federation, to show the might of Star Fleet, and to explore.

I am Commander Mark Reinhart, Commanding Officer of the Starship Shiloh. The Shiloh will lead the fleet with Carrier Air Wing 12, our fighter wing. Excellence will be our standard. Duty will be our way of life. I invite you to explore the website, where you will find information about the Shiloh, its crew, and its mission. The Shiloh is now accepting applications for all positions. Join us for our last stages of construction, and our commissioning.

The crew of the Shiloh is committed, we will perform.

Sir Winston Churchill once said, "Sometimes, it is not enough to do our best; we must do what is required."

Again, Welcome aboard the Shiloh.

Signed,

Cmdr. Mark Reinhart
Commanding Officer, USS Shiloh, NCC-73549

Good day, all,

I will be out of town this week (actually, I am already out of town) on a vacation. While I will still be around to some degree, don't count on me to sit in the IRC room like I usually am when I am at home at work. Still, if you have questions or concerns, email or Private Message them to me.

Hope you guys have a good week!

Respectfully,
Mark Reinhart
Commanding Officer

Crew of the Shiloh! I bring dispatches from the Hornet’s Nest.

It is always a pleasure to give you all awards for your hard work. Indeed, it is a great feeling and you deserve every bit of it. Whether you got an award or not, I cannot tell you enough that you all deserve it. Congratulations for a great February. I could not have expected to have done so well in such a short time. Congratulations everyone.

Without further adieu, let’s start with some Time Served Awards:

6 Month recipients:
Lt. Saul
Lt. Ivasnovich Kuznetsov
Lt. Robert McKay
Lt. Alex Meyers
Lt. Kara Linn / Senior Chief Petty Officer Nailah Zimmah
Cmdr. Mark Reinhart (Me. This is more like a self pat on the back. August 5, 2009)

3 Month Recipients:
Lt. Cmdr. Jaeih Andorzai
Marine Captain Darian Riva

These time served awards really do symbolize your dedication to the ship and your character, and awarding these to you really does give me great pleasure. Thank you, guys and gals, for sticking in there and having fun.

Character Development:
I decided that this game is inevitably about getting to know each other and interacting with each other, and having fun while writing. Though I have been (in character) visibly displeased with excessive drinking aboard the ship, I couldn’t help but laugh at these author’s combined effort. For their work in “Off Duty Officers”, I am giving the following crew the Character Development Award:
Lt. Ivanovich Kuznetsov
Lt. Kara Linn / Senior Chief Petty Officer Nailah Zimmah
Lt. Dr. Alex Meyers
Lt. Orion Tarmikos
1st Lt. Fahima Tennerbin

Humor Award:
This player recently joined us and didn’t wait to keep us laughing. For his exchanges with Lt. Cmdr. Andorzai in “Snowed Under”, Lt. (JG) Philip Harris is awarded the Humor Award. Enjoy the banana!

Executive Officer’s Merit Award:
“Without a doubt, this nomination must go to Lieutenant Harris for his sterling work since coming aboard the Shiloh. He has wasted no time getting to work on Joint Posts, and diving into his character. Great job, Lt. Harris.”

Captain’s Merit Award:
He is a newcomer to the Shiloh, but he has been a friend for years. And without him, I would not know half of what I do about leading a SIM. Our resident Andorian brought with him a sense of humor, a sense of mystery, and a sense of duty. This month, he has displayed technical proficiency, demonstrated great NPC development, and helped me, Out Of Character in maintaining the website. Crellan Kell, thank you for joining us this past month and all of your help. Congratulations for winning the Captain’s Merit Award.

Crew’s Choice:
Now, don’t think I am just going to tell you. I am going to make you sweat through the drum roll. But seriously, I thought it was important for you to read what your fellow crew members said about you for the month of February.

“She has been a very active and very fun addition to the crew. She is always up for a JP and has a character with a unique personality. Her character development is also top notch, flowing seamlessly into her writing.”

“Great writer, proactive in starting JP's with everyone, and knows her character well enough to be able to interact with everyone in a myriad of differing situations.”

“I honestly believe that the Lieutenant has earned the right to this award this month by being one of the Shiloh's most active players despite only having been with us for a month. Her response to JP requests from other crew members and her ability to instantly involve other players in her character, along with her abilities as a writer have made her one of the most interesting and entertaining players to work with this month. Well done, Lieutenant!”

“The Lieutenant has already made quite an impact with her character. I think she is an excellent writer, and she really loves to get involved and post. I'm looking forward to seeing more from her.”

And indeed, you deserve the Crew’s Choice Award, 1st Lt. Fahima Tennebrin.
