Dr. Meyers was in her office in early morning hours, sipping at her coffee which was growing cold rather quickly. While she very much enjoyed sleeping in, she would rather be up early for the day shifts. It allowed her staff the opportunity for a decent night's sleep. Aside from that, much of the crew themselves were still sleeping themselves which meant diminished likelihood of patients and therefore more time for the paperwork.

There she sat going over the patient treatment reports for the week as she shifted to find a more comfortable angle in her chair to read. She was glad for the team she had. They were skilled and competent. When the doors slid open to her surprise, Alex looked up to greet the visitor but instead was barely able to stifle the yawn that escaped.

"Doctor, early morning to you," she greeted sheepishly.

"Morning, Doc. You're up early." The visitor said as he placed a PaDD on the desk in front of the Doctor. "May I have a seat?"

Alex waved towards the empty chairs before the desk. "By all means. How are things going with your evaluations? Anyone I should be concerned about?" she asked, standing herself to get a fresh cup of coffee from the replicator. "Would you like something?"

"Frankly, I've not had a lot of time to get through them. I've met with Lieutenant Riva and Lieutenant McKay but he was less than accomodating. You weren't kidding when you said he didn't like doctors." Jaeih said, taking a sip from his cup.

Frowning, she let out a sigh and ran a hand through her hair. "I believe I may be able to find a way to get through to him, but it will take some time and effort... Although - I do not believe that is why you are here..." she said not accusingly, but with more curiosity.

"No, it's not Doc. I've been reassigned to Executive Officer." He said with a mixture of pride and exasperation at the thought that he wouldn't get to complete his work. "I thought I'd stop by and work out the little details as I'm not sure we'll be taking on a new counselor at the base."

"Oh? I suppose congratulations are in order then...sir?" Alex smiled as she sat back down. "While I hope we are able to obtain another counselor in due time, it is not unheard of for senior officers to function in multiple roles when needed. While your primary duties, understandably, are to the function of ship duties, I am sure that the Commander would lend your capabilities in a pinch...not saying that I would request it unless it was dire."

"Thank you. You're quite right, of course, that's very true." He said with a smile. "However, I feel it's probably a good idea to get you up to speed."

The good doctor put aside her patient reports and turned her full attention to her colleague. "Yes, do tell," she replied, relaxing back.

"Well, I had quite a productive meeting with Lieutenant Riva. She's quite pleasant and seemed willing to send her pilots to me. With PTSD, you tend to find that the 'macho' environment of the fighter wing means that crewmen with problems might not be willing to come forward." He paused for a moment. "I don't have too much of a cause for concern with her."

"That is good to hear. In this line of work, it is expectant to see some sort of - wayward officers. Makes me consider searching for a crewmember interested in assisting with moral," Alex said thoughtfully.

"It's not a bad idea at all, I have to say. Not sure I can think of any candidates for the job off the top of my head though." Jaeih looked down his PADD which contained the entire crew manifest. "Any ideas?"

Shaking her head, she sighed. "Me either right now. I will have to keep an eye out for possibilities. We are due to pick up more crew at 386 when we arrive so we will see what they may have for us."

"Very good plan. Well, I'll leave you with my report. I would definitely recommend that you keep an eye on McKay but I'm quite sure I can leave him in your capable hands." Jaeih said with a wry smile.

Alex narrowed her eyes and leaned forward, "What is that supposed to mean?"

Jaeih had felt something from the Doctor but he wasn't sure enough to make any further comment. "Nothing at all, Doctor."

She didn't buy it. Leaning back in her chair, she pulled the PADD that he gave her with her. Flipping through the information, she spoke. "I thank you for this. I will see what I can arrange per your recommendations."

"Lovely. Thanks, doc." Jaeih said as he left.
