Trial Run – Grilling up the Marines Part 1
by Lieutenant Robert McKay & Major Kara Linn (P-NPC)
ON:
After sifting through a load of paperwork and sending out the messages through the appropriate channels, writing out a report for the captain and programming a random algorithm to generate security clearances for the ship personnel he was fuming, 18 hours nonstop work and know he had to pay a visit to every crewmember on the ship, it only made sense to work Up the chain of command that way once he reached the captain he could give the Captain a final report and begin the investigation of whodunit.
He could have called each member to his office but he knew that most would delay and probably all turn up at once, at least this way he got out of the confines of his office for a while. He’d been stalking out the fighter bay for a few minute looking for his target, with increased agitation he bellowed out through the bay “Captain Kara Linn... Front and Centre”
For those that did not know her, she could be hard to find. Even still, there were a few places she could be that would not take much effort to find her; her office, the hangar or Afterburners. This time, though, she was in the hangar bay, currently shoulder deep in one of her fighters, so to speak. Linn jerked back a little when she heard her name yelled out like that, wincing a little as she hits her head. "Now what." The Bajoran woman mutters.
Linn stepped away from the fighter, and moved around others to see just what was going on. Finding the source, McKay, she approaches him. He had to be the source of the bellowing, since anyone here would know who she was and where to find her. "Captain Linn here, sir."
Linn gives McKay a glance over, then realizing who he is she tenses a little. "If that Cardassian complained, I've been minding my own business."
“’I’ wouldn’t have turned up if it was as petty complaint as that” he said sighing only wishing it was so simple “This is an issue of Ship security, Your Ship command codes have been removed and I have the glorious task of reissuing new command codes”
Typing on his PADD “your voice code, repeat after me... Linn-Four-Nine-Three-Alpha-Foxtrot-Green” he said holing the PADD close to the woman’s mouth and hitting the record button
Code change? Go figure. She repeated it, though. "Linn-Four-Nine-Three-Alpha-Foxtrot-Green.." She eyed him curiously then. " So who broke the computer already?" Her thoughts drifting for a second first to the cardassian engineer she had seen.
“As of yet I don’t know, but head will roll, the breach is more of a chasm, we’re just lucky this is the training run” he replied entering his own code into the PADD and storing it... “Ok voice pattern has been uploaded, just your PIN next, I have added the extra security number to things such as outgoing communications and logs... if you hit that button the PADD will select a random number... remember it, accept it and close the page... no one it to know your 4 digit PIN except for you” he said and handed the woman his PADD he turned away for some privacy and eyed the nearby fighter
Linn took the PADD, glancing over at him a moment as he eyed the fighter. She smirked a little as she went through the PIN process. "Wonderful bird isn't she?" Not too sure really that the man before her knew anything about fighters.
“Aye she is, so much sleeker than star ships, sometimes I wonder if Starfleet uses the wrong designers” he replied in a little awe “I’ve always toyed with buying the civilian model”
"Really now? You know how to fly one?"
“Only in simulations” he replied honestly, a little drawn back over seeing a real craft up close
"Ha, I see. Close enough to the real thing I suppose, but not quite the same."
"Well... never is the same, training and simulations only go so far"
"Was there anything else I could do for you?" Linn questioned, the other seemed a bit bored now that he was here and had done is duty.
"not really" he said reluctantly taking his eyes from the fighter “I should let you get back to work”
Linn smirked. "I'm sure the CAG would aprecciate that."
